About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Environmental Scientist to join their team in Cambridge . This role is vital for ensuring that all mining operations adhere to stringent environmental regulations and best practices. You will be responsible for monitoring environmental impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and managing compliance programs related to water quality, air emissions, and land rehabilitation. Your expertise will directly contribute to the sustainable and responsible operation of our mining sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental baseline studies and impact assessments for mining projects.
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs for water, air, soil, and biodiversity.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare environmental reports, management plans, and regulatory submissions.
• Investigate and respond to environmental incidents, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with operational teams to integrate environmental considerations into mine planning and operations.
• Oversee and advise on site rehabilitation and closure activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management within the mining industry or heavy industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks applicable to mining.
• Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessment and management planning.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
