About the Role
Our client seeks a proactive and skilled Mine Maintenance Supervisor to lead their maintenance team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This hands-on role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining equipment and machinery. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of all maintenance activities, including preventative, corrective, and emergency repairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical or electrical background, excellent leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the operational demands of a busy mine. Your contribution will directly impact operational uptime and safety standards on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including electricians, mechanics, and fitters.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all mining machinery and equipment.
- Oversee and execute timely corrective maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to ensure availability of critical components.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues on heavy mining equipment.
Requirements
- Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 6 years of experience in a maintenance role, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Proven experience with heavy machinery and mining equipment maintenance.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and welding techniques.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for work order tracking and scheduling.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
