Outdoor Pursuits Instructor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Outdoor Pursuits Instructor to lead a variety of adventurous activities for groups in the scenic surroundings of Stoke-on-Trent . You will be responsible for planning and delivering safe, engaging, and educational outdoor experiences, ensuring participants develop new skills and a greater appreciation for the natural environment. This role is perfect for an adventurous individual who excels at working with diverse groups, fostering teamwork, and promoting personal development through challenging and rewarding outdoor challenges, contributing to memorable experiences for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct participants in a range of outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking, and hiking.
• Develop and implement session plans that are safe, engaging, and appropriate for different age groups and abilities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to strict risk management protocols.
• Maintain and manage all activity equipment, ensuring it is in excellent condition and fit for purpose.
• Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback to participants throughout activities.
• Promote environmental awareness and responsible outdoor practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an outdoor pursuits instructor or similar role.
• Relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications for activities offered (e.g., Mountain Leader, Paddlesport Instructor).
• First Aid certification (e.g., Outdoor First Aid).
• Strong knowledge of outdoor safety, navigation, and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent group management and communication skills.
