About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Petroleum Geologist to join their team in Edinburgh . This role requires a strong background in subsurface interpretation and a commitment to working on-site to support ongoing exploration and development projects. You will be responsible for analyzing geological data to identify potential hydrocarbon accumulations and contribute to the geological modeling of reservoirs. Working closely with geophysicists and reservoir engineers, you will play a key part in defining drilling targets and optimizing field development strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for a geologist to apply their expertise in a collaborative, office-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret well logs, core data, and seismic attributes to delineate reservoir characteristics.
- Build and update geological models for exploration and production assets.
- Identify and evaluate drilling prospects, assessing geological risks and uncertainties.
- Collaborate with the subsurface team to integrate geological interpretations with geophysical and engineering data.
- Prepare geological reports and presentations for internal reviews and external partners.
- Contribute to the development of regional geological concepts and exploration strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in petroleum geology within the oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
- Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy , sedimentology, and structural geology.
- Experience with well correlation and log analysis.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for an office-based role.
