Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative and skilled Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their product development team in Glasgow . This role is central to designing and optimizing drug delivery systems and dosage forms that enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient compliance. You will leverage your expertise in pharmaceutics to develop robust formulations for both new chemical entities and existing drugs. Working in a cutting-edge research environment, you will contribute significantly to the advancement of our client's drug product portfolio, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to pharmaceutical innovation and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize novel drug formulations (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, topical).
• Characterize the physical and chemical properties of drug substances and excipients.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to understand drug-excipient interactions and stability profiles.
• Scale-up laboratory-based formulations to pilot and manufacturing scale.
• Utilize various analytical techniques to assess formulation performance, dissolution, and stability.
• Prepare technical reports, development summaries, and contribute to regulatory filings.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
• Strong knowledge of drug delivery systems, dosage form design, and relevant manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques for characterization and quality control of drug products.
• Experience with excipient selection and compatibility studies.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to formulation challenges.
