About the Role

Our client is looking for an innovative Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their dedicated research and development team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is crucial for designing and optimizing drug delivery systems and formulations for new pharmaceutical products. You will work within a state-of-the-art facility, collaborating closely with experts in chemistry, pharmacology, and manufacturing to bring new medicines from concept to reality. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to influence product development in a collaborative, on-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize novel pharmaceutical formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables).
Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility testing.
Scale-up formulation processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
Characterize formulations using techniques such as HPLC, dissolution testing, and particle size analysis.
Collaborate with analytical development teams to establish testing methods for new formulations.
Troubleshoot formulation-related issues encountered during development and manufacturing.

Requirements

Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
Strong understanding of drug delivery principles, excipient functionality, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency with laboratory equipment used in formulation development and characterization.
Experience with regulatory requirements for drug product development (e.g., ICH guidelines).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based setting.
