About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative and driven Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their Research and Development department in Cardiff . This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of novel drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical formulations. You will leverage your scientific expertise to translate preclinical concepts into robust, scalable formulations suitable for clinical trials and commercialization. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and characterize various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., tablets, capsules, injectables, topical preparations).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including API characterization, solubility assessment, and excipient compatibility studies.
- Develop and optimize formulation processes, ensuring scalability and reproducibility from lab to pilot scale.
- Utilize various analytical techniques (e.g., dissolution testing, stability studies, particle size analysis) to evaluate formulation performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process engineering, and regulatory affairs, to achieve project milestones.
- Prepare technical reports, formulation development summaries, and contribute to regulatory submission documents.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a strong understanding of drug delivery principles.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of dosage forms and associated manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques relevant to formulation characterization and stability testing.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines (e.g., EMA, FDA) pertaining to drug product development and manufacturing.
