About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer specializing in transportation to join their esteemed, fully remote team. This senior role involves leading the strategic planning, design, and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects across the UK. You will be pivotal in developing innovative solutions for road networks, public transport systems, and active travel initiatives, ensuring they meet current and future demand while adhering to the highest standards of safety and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of major transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, junctions, and public transit systems.
- Develop forward-thinking transportation strategies and masterplans to address mobility needs and promote sustainable travel.
- Conduct traffic modeling, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments for transportation schemes.
- Ensure all designs comply with the latest national design standards, road geometry guidelines, and safety regulations.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively within a remote team structure.
- Liaise with government bodies, local authorities, and key stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Transportation Engineering or Civil Engineering with a strong transportation focus.
- A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and project management.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognized professional body is essential.
- Extensive experience in road design, traffic management, junction design, and active travel infrastructure.
- Proficiency in transportation planning and design software, such as PTV Vissim, AIMSUN, or specialist highway design suites.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to lead remote teams effectively.
