About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Medicinal Chemist to lead their drug discovery efforts in a fully remote capacity. This senior role is critical for driving the design and synthesis of novel small molecule drug candidates targeting challenging diseases. You will leverage your extensive expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and structure-activity relationships (SAR) to spearhead innovative research programs. This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader in medicinal chemistry to make a significant impact on drug discovery pipelines from a remote setting , collaborating with a dynamic, geographically dispersed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecule drug candidates using advanced synthetic and computational chemistry techniques.
- Develop and execute SAR strategies to identify and refine compounds with improved potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties.
- Collaborate with biologists, pharmacologists, and DMPK scientists to advance drug discovery projects from hit identification to lead optimization.
- Oversee and mentor junior chemists, providing scientific guidance and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Stay at the forefront of medicinal chemistry, evaluating new technologies and methodologies to enhance discovery efforts.
Requirements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in medicinal chemistry within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated success in leading discovery projects and delivering clinical candidates.
- Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, structure-based drug design, and SAR analysis.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and proven experience working effectively in a remote , collaborative environment.
