Principal Scientist - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Scientist with extensive expertise in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) to join their innovative R&D department in Leeds . This leadership role is crucial for guiding the strategic direction of DMPK studies across multiple drug discovery projects. You will be responsible for designing and interpreting in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies, assessing drug candidates' pharmacokinetic profiles, and providing critical data to inform compound selection and development decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep scientific understanding, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific information to diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies for small molecule drug candidates.
• Develop and validate bioanalytical methods for quantifying drugs and metabolites in biological matrices.
• Assess drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) properties to predict human pharmacokinetics.
• Collaborate with project teams, providing expert DMPK guidance throughout the drug discovery and development process.
• Contribute to the selection of development candidates based on robust DMPK data packages.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in DMPK science, implementing new technologies and strategies.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacokinetics , Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience in DMPK research.
• Strong hands-on experience with various in vitro ADME assays (e.g., metabolic stability, CYP inhibition, permeability) and in vivo PK studies.
• Proficiency in pharmacokinetic modeling and data analysis software.
• Excellent understanding of drug metabolism pathways and transporter systems.
• Proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior scientists, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams in Leeds .
