About the Role
Our client, a world-renowned pharmaceutical research institution, is seeking an accomplished Principal Scientist to lead their Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group in the vibrant scientific hub of Cambridge . This senior role is instrumental in guiding the DMPK strategy for novel drug candidates, ensuring their appropriate absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion profiles. You will play a critical part in drug discovery and development, providing expert scientific leadership and contributing to the selection and progression of compounds with favourable pharmacokinetic properties. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced DMPK scientist to drive innovation, mentor a talented team, and significantly influence the trajectory of new medicines within a collaborative and cutting-edge research environment in Cambridge .
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert scientific leadership and strategic direction for the DMPK team, overseeing all aspects of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies.
- Design and interpret complex in vitro and in vivo DMPK studies to assess drug candidate properties.
- Develop and validate bioanalytical methods to support pharmacokinetic studies.
- Collaborate closely with discovery chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical development teams to integrate DMPK data into drug discovery and development strategies.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory submission documents (e.g., INDs, NDAs) with respect to DMPK data.
- Mentor junior scientists and foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the DMPK department in Cambridge .
Requirements
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of successfully contributing to the progression of drug candidates through discovery and development.
- Expertise in in vitro ADME assays, bioanalysis, and in vivo pharmacokinetic modeling and simulation.
- Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
