Principal Scientist - Immunology Research

About the Role

Our client is seeking a distinguished Principal Scientist to lead their Immunology Research efforts in Leeds . This senior position offers the opportunity to direct groundbreaking research in immune-mediated diseases and immuno-oncology. You will be responsible for defining research strategies, managing project teams, and contributing to high-impact publications and intellectual property development. The successful candidate will possess a deep scientific understanding of immunology and a proven ability to translate complex biological concepts into actionable research programs, driving innovation from our Leeds -based research center.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct research projects focused on understanding immune system function and dysfunction in disease.
• Design and implement complex immunological assays, including flow cytometry, ELISpot, cytokine analysis, and cell-based functional assays.
• Interpret complex datasets, identify critical insights, and guide experimental direction to achieve project goals.
• Manage and mentor a team of research scientists and technicians, fostering scientific excellence and career development.
• Develop and maintain strong collaborations with internal departments and external academic institutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of research grants, publications, patents, and regulatory filings.

Requirements

• PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive research experience in immunology, with a significant portion in a leadership or principal scientist role.
• Extensive knowledge of immune cell populations, signaling pathways, and mechanisms of immune regulation and dysregulation.
• Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of immunological techniques and their application to disease models.
• Proven track record of scientific innovation, including high-impact publications and/or patent filings.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
