Principal Scientist - Structural Biology - Remote

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Principal Scientist specializing in Structural Biology to join their globally distributed research team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to contribute from anywhere. You will lead critical research efforts focused on understanding the three-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules and their interactions, essential for drug discovery and development. This role demands a high level of scientific expertise, leadership, and the ability to drive complex projects to completion within a collaborative, virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research programs focused on determining protein structures using techniques such as X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, or NMR spectroscopy.
• Design and execute experiments for protein expression, purification, and crystallization/sample preparation for structural analysis.
• Analyze and interpret complex structural data, including electron density maps and modeling.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and medicinal chemists to integrate structural insights into drug design strategies.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and research associates.
• Stay current with advancements in structural biology and related fields, evaluating and implementing new methodologies.

Requirements

• PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant postdoctoral or industrial research experience, with a focus on protein structure determination.
• Extensive hands-on experience with one or more key structural biology techniques (crystallography, cryo-EM, NMR).
• Proven ability to lead research projects, manage timelines, and mentor scientific staff.
• Experience with data processing, analysis software, and structural modeling.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a remote setting.
