About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer with a focus on specialty chemicals to join their engineering team in Bristol . This role is crucial for the design and development of innovative processes for new and existing specialty chemical products. You will be involved in all phases of design, from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to detailed engineering and commissioning support. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a passion for design and innovation in the dynamic field of specialty chemicals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for specialty chemical production.
- Perform mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and specification for process units.
- Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual design work for new process technologies.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project management teams throughout the design lifecycle.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and industry standards.
- Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process design, with a significant portion focused on specialty chemicals or fine chemicals.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, ChemCAD) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of reaction engineering, distillation, extraction, and crystallization processes.
- Experience with HAZOP and other safety review processes.
- Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
