About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated safety team, with the flexibility of a remote work arrangement. This critical role ensures that all chemical processes and facilities meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive process safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and driving a strong safety culture across the organization. This position is vital for safeguarding personnel, the environment, and the company's assets, working collaboratively with engineering and operational teams globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and best practices to engineering and operational staff.
- Review process designs and modifications for safety implications throughout their lifecycle.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience specifically in chemical process safety engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, HAZOP methodology, and risk assessment techniques.
- Experience with consequence modeling software and safety integrity level (SIL) assessments.
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM).
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
