About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Process Development Scientist to join their innovative manufacturing team in Southampton . This role focuses on optimizing and scaling up pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will be involved in troubleshooting existing processes, developing new manufacturing methods, and ensuring seamless technology transfer from R&D to production. This is a hands-on position for an individual passionate about chemical engineering and pharmaceutical production, offering the chance to significantly contribute to the supply of life-saving medications within a reputable organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up chemical synthesis and manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
- Perform process hazard analyses and implement safety measures in accordance with company standards.
- Investigate process deviations and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs).
- Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure smooth technology transfer and validation.
- Document all process development activities thoroughly for regulatory and internal use.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, unit operations, and scale-up principles.
- Experience with process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC) is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical writing skills.
