Process Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and practical Process Development Scientist to join their manufacturing sciences team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is critical for optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products, ensuring efficiency, robustness, and cost-effectiveness. You will be involved in the development, validation, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and improvements to existing processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist with a strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and hands-on experience in process optimization within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to optimize chemical synthesis and manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
• Develop scalable and robust manufacturing processes that meet quality, safety, and economic requirements.
• Utilize process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical methods to monitor and control process parameters.
• Conduct process validation studies and contribute to the preparation of regulatory documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues to ensure consistent product quality and yield.
• Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and scale-up.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and unit operations relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with process scale-up, optimization techniques, and validation.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
