About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Process Safety Engineer to enhance their safety protocols and compliance efforts in Sunderland . This role operates on a hybrid basis, combining essential on-site assessments and team collaborations with remote analysis and report generation. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating process-related hazards to ensure the safety of personnel, the environment, and the company's assets. This position is crucial for maintaining operational integrity and fostering a robust safety culture within the organization, working closely with operations and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
- Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
- Perform safety integrity level (SIL) assessments and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective and preventative actions.
- Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure they meet safety requirements.
- Provide expert advice and training on process safety principles and practices to site personnel.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or process industries.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, COMAH).
- Proven experience conducting and leading PHAs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including site visits and remote work.
