Project Development Manager - Energy Storage

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Development Manager specializing in Energy Storage solutions to join their growing team in Cambridge . You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new energy storage projects, from initial concept through to financial close. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of market dynamics, regulatory landscapes, and the technical aspects of battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will play a key role in expanding the company's footprint in this critical sector of the renewable energy market, contributing to grid stability and decarbonisation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new development opportunities for energy storage projects across the UK.
• Conduct market analysis, site assessments, and feasibility studies for potential projects.
• Develop business cases and financial models to support project investment decisions.
• Negotiate key project agreements, including land leases, grid connections, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, local authorities, grid operators, and investors.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in project development within the renewable energy or energy infrastructure sector, with a specific focus on energy storage .
• Proven track record of successfully bringing energy projects to financial close.
• Strong understanding of battery energy storage technologies, market mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with financial modelling and project finance.
