About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement of Capital Equipment in Bristol . This strategic role involves managing the entire lifecycle of capital expenditure procurement, from identifying needs and defining specifications to negotiating complex contracts and overseeing installation. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and finance departments to ensure that significant capital investments are made efficiently, effectively, and provide long-term value to the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills and a deep understanding of capital procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment projects, aligning with business objectives and budget constraints.
- Lead negotiations with global suppliers for complex machinery, technology, and infrastructure procurements.
- Manage the tendering process, including RFQ/RFP development, evaluation, and supplier selection.
- Oversee contract execution, ensuring compliance with terms, delivery schedules, and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to define equipment specifications and ensure successful implementation.
- Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and technological advancements in capital equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with a substantial focus on capital equipment or major project sourcing.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale, high-value procurement projects from initiation to completion.
- Expertise in contract negotiation, risk management, and supplier relationship management for capital goods.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with capital budgeting processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
