About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Remote Agricultural Sustainability Consultant to drive environmental best practices across the agricultural sector. This fully remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the UK, contributing to the development and implementation of sustainable farming strategies. You will advise farms, cooperatives, and agricultural businesses on reducing their environmental impact, enhancing biodiversity, improving resource efficiency (water, energy, soil), and meeting regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help shape a more sustainable future for agriculture, promoting ecological health and economic viability simultaneously for clients across various regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the current environmental performance and sustainability practices of agricultural operations.
- Develop bespoke sustainability action plans and roadmaps for clients, focusing on areas like soil health, water management, carbon footprint reduction, and biodiversity enhancement.
- Advise on the implementation of organic farming principles, regenerative agriculture techniques, and precision farming for sustainability.
- Stay current with evolving environmental regulations, subsidies, and market demands related to sustainable agriculture.
- Conduct impact assessments and monitor the effectiveness of implemented sustainability initiatives.
- Deliver training and workshops to farm staff and stakeholders on sustainable agricultural practices.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural sustainability, environmental consulting, or a related role.
- Deep understanding of soil science, water management, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity conservation in agricultural systems.
- Proven ability to develop and implement practical, cost-effective sustainability strategies for farms.
- Excellent analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with various sustainability reporting frameworks and certifications.
