About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Sustainable Farming Advisor to join their environmental initiatives team, based near Brighton . This role will focus on guiding farmers and agricultural businesses in adopting environmentally friendly and sustainable practices that enhance soil health, biodiversity, and resource efficiency. You will provide expert advice on areas such as organic farming, regenerative agriculture, water management, and carbon sequestration. This is a rewarding position for someone passionate about environmental stewardship and committed to supporting the agricultural community in transitioning to more sustainable methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise farmers on implementing sustainable agricultural practices, including crop rotation, cover cropping, and reduced tillage.
- Conduct farm assessments to identify opportunities for improving environmental performance.
- Provide guidance on water conservation techniques and efficient irrigation systems.
- Educate farmers on soil health management strategies and their benefits for long-term productivity.
- Assist clients in understanding and accessing relevant environmental schemes and grants.
- Promote biodiversity on farms through habitat creation and management advice.
Requirements
- Degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Sustainable Agriculture, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in sustainable or organic farming systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of soil science, ecology, and environmental management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with farmers.
- Understanding of current environmental legislation and agricultural support schemes.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage client relationships effectively.
