About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Chemical Process Development Specialist to join their innovative global team, operating from anywhere within the UK, with administrative ties to our Norwich, Norfolk operations. This position is pivotal in driving the advancement of our chemical product lines through the development and optimisation of scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes. You will collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams, leveraging cutting-edge technology and your deep technical expertise to bring new chemical solutions to market. This role is designed for an experienced professional who thrives in a remote setting and excels at independent problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimisation of chemical processes for new and existing products, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Conduct in-depth process research, pilot studies, and technology assessments, often utilising simulation and modelling tools.
- Prepare detailed process design documents, including PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
- Collaborate virtually with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to facilitate smooth technology transfer and implementation.
- Ensure all process development activities adhere to stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in chemical process development.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical process development, scale-up, and optimisation.
- Demonstrated success in developing commercially viable chemical processes.
- Proficiency with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of process safety principles, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote, international team environment.
