Remote Chief Metallurgist - Mineral Processing

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and experienced Chief Metallurgist to lead their mineral processing operations remotely. Based anywhere, you will be responsible for optimizing recovery processes, developing innovative metallurgical solutions, and providing expert guidance across multiple sites. This is a senior, strategic role that requires a deep understanding of mineralogy, flotation, leaching, and other extraction techniques to maximize value from ore bodies. You will collaborate closely with site-based teams and management, driving technical excellence and efficiency from a distance, and shaping the metallurgical strategy of the company through remote collaboration and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes, including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining, to maximize metal recovery and concentrate grades.
• Develop and implement new metallurgical technologies and process improvements.
• Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for operational challenges across various mining sites.
• Conduct metallurgical test work analysis and interpret results to guide process design and optimization.
• Develop and manage metallurgical budgets and strategic plans.
• Mentor and develop the skills of metallurgists and process engineers across the organization.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, with significant leadership experience.
• Proven track record in optimizing complex metallurgical circuits and achieving high recovery rates.
• Expert knowledge of mineral processing equipment and techniques.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with experience managing remote teams.
• Familiarity with process simulation software is a plus.
