About the Role

Our client is seeking an analytical and experienced Remote Crop Scientist to join their innovative research and development team. Working from a remote location, potentially supporting operations near Plymouth , you will focus on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of large datasets related to crop physiology, genetics, and environmental factors. This role is critical in driving advancements in crop breeding, yield optimization, and sustainable agricultural practices through rigorous scientific inquiry and data-driven insights. You will collaborate with plant breeders, agronomists, and geneticists to translate complex data into actionable strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage experiments for collecting comprehensive crop performance data in diverse environments.
• Utilize statistical software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python) for advanced data analysis and modeling.
• Develop and implement algorithms for identifying key genetic markers associated with desirable crop traits.
• Analyze the impact of environmental variables (soil, climate) on crop growth and yield.
• Generate clear and concise reports, visualizations, and presentations of research findings for scientific and non-scientific audiences.
• Contribute to the development of predictive models for crop yield forecasting and trait selection.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Crop Science, Plant Biology, Agronomy, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
• Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis, experimental design, and data mining within an agricultural or biological context.
• Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.
• Strong understanding of crop physiology, genetics, and breeding principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with large-scale agricultural datasets and databases is highly preferred.
