About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Remote Payroll Manager to lead their payroll operations, working from anywhere in the UK, with a connection to Cambridge . This is a fully remote position where you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. You will manage the payroll function, oversee statutory payments, and provide expert advice on payroll-related matters. This role is crucial for maintaining employee satisfaction and ensuring the company meets its legal obligations, requiring strong leadership and an in-depth understanding of payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with current legislation.
- Oversee all statutory deductions, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other relevant payments.
- Ensure smooth processing of new starters, leavers, and changes to employee terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain robust payroll procedures and controls, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and other external bodies as required.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the remote payroll team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide expert advice and support to employees and management on all payroll-related queries.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in payroll management, including significant exposure to statutory regulations.
- Proven ability to manage a payroll function, preferably in a remote setting.
- In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation , tax codes, and National Insurance contributions.
- Proficiency with various payroll software and HR information systems.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a distributed team effectively.
