Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote position, contributing to their cutting-edge product development efforts. Based out of Edinburgh , you will take a leading role in designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical aspects of new products, collaborating virtually with a diverse and talented team. This role demands a high degree of autonomy, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex engineering solutions from a remote setting. You will be instrumental in bringing innovative products from concept to reality, driving engineering excellence across the entire product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies and systems for new consumer electronics.
• Perform detailed FEA and thermal analysis to ensure product robustness and performance under various conditions.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, for remote manufacturing.
• Collaborate closely with remote hardware, software, and industrial design teams to achieve integrated product solutions.
• Manage design verification and validation testing, providing clear reports and recommendations.
• Contribute to DFM/DFA reviews and drive manufacturing readiness for global production.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 8 years of professional experience in product development, with a strong emphasis on mechanical design.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and advanced simulation tools.
• Demonstrated experience with designing for mass production, including plastics, metal stamping, and assembly.
• Proven ability to work effectively and productively in a fully remote setting.
• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a virtual environment.
