Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dedicated Product Development team. This role is based in Edinburgh and operates on a fully remote basis, allowing for a flexible and autonomous working arrangement. You will be responsible for leading the design and development of innovative mechanical solutions, driving projects from concept to market launch. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering efforts for new mechanical products and system enhancements.
• Develop detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and precise manufacturing drawings using industry-leading CAD software.
• Perform advanced engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, and dynamic simulations, to validate and optimize designs.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing, to ensure integrated product solutions.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation processes, documenting results and recommending design iterations.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of product development by identifying new technologies and design approaches.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, assembly, and drafting software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX).
• Demonstrated experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools for complex simulations.
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management (PLM).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead technical discussions in a remote setting.
