About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dedicated Product Development team. This role is based in Edinburgh and operates on a fully remote basis, allowing for a flexible and autonomous working arrangement. You will be responsible for leading the design and development of innovative mechanical solutions, driving projects from concept to market launch. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering efforts for new mechanical products and system enhancements.
- Develop detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and precise manufacturing drawings using industry-leading CAD software.
- Perform advanced engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, and dynamic simulations, to validate and optimize designs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing, to ensure integrated product solutions.
- Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation processes, documenting results and recommending design iterations.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of product development by identifying new technologies and design approaches.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Expert proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, assembly, and drafting software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX).
- Demonstrated experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools for complex simulations.
- Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle management (PLM).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to lead technical discussions in a remote setting.
