Remote Sensing Specialist - Agriculture

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Sensing Specialist with expertise in agricultural applications to join their fully remote team. This role will leverage satellite imagery, drone data, and other geospatial technologies to monitor crop health, assess land use, and support precision agriculture initiatives. You will work collaboratively with agricultural scientists, data analysts, and farm managers across various locations to provide critical insights that drive informed decision-making and optimize farming practices. Key Responsibilities

• Acquire, process, and analyze remote sensing data (satellite, aerial, drone) for agricultural applications.
• Develop and implement algorithms for crop classification, yield prediction, soil moisture estimation, and stress detection.
• Create detailed geospatial maps and reports for clients, highlighting key findings and actionable insights.
• Collaborate with data scientists and agronomists to integrate remote sensing data with other agricultural datasets.
• Stay current with advancements in remote sensing technology, GIS, and agricultural science.
• Provide technical support and guidance on remote sensing tools and methodologies to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Agronomy, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in processing and analyzing remote sensing data, specifically for agricultural applications.
• Proficiency with remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, QGIS, ArcGIS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
• Strong understanding of vegetation indices, spectral analysis, and image classification techniques.
• Experience with satellite platforms (e.g., Sentinel, Landsat) and drone data processing is essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
