Research Chemist - Organic Synthesis

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes to access target organic compounds.
• Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as chromatography, NMR, and mass spectrometry.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency of synthetic processes.
• Literature searching and critical evaluation of synthetic methodologies.
• Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, including electronic lab notebooks.
• Collaborate with other members of the research team to share knowledge and troubleshoot synthetic challenges.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry laboratory work.
• Proficiency with common synthetic techniques and purification methods (e.g., column chromatography, crystallization).
• Familiarity with spectroscopic characterization techniques (NMR, MS, IR).
• Good understanding of organic reaction mechanisms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in our Norwich -based laboratory.
