Research Fellow - Molecular Genetics

About the Role

Our client is recruiting for a dedicated Research Fellow to contribute to pioneering studies in molecular genetics at their facility in Leeds . This role focuses on investigating the genetic basis of complex diseases, utilizing advanced molecular and cellular techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analyzing genetic data, and contributing to manuscript preparation. You will work as part of a vibrant research community, collaborating with leading experts in the field and gaining exposure to cutting-edge research methodologies. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments to investigate gene function, regulation, and association with disease phenotypes using molecular biology techniques.
• Analyze genetic data using appropriate statistical software and databases, identifying key genetic variants and pathways.
• Prepare detailed experimental protocols, maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, and contribute to the writing of research papers and grant proposals.
• Collaborate effectively with other researchers within the department and external collaborators on joint projects.
• Assist in the supervision and training of junior research assistants and students working on related projects.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with techniques such as PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, and cell culture.
• Familiarity with genotyping methods and basic statistical analysis of genetic data.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple experimental tasks concurrently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills , with a proactive and inquisitive approach to research.
