About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist with expertise in Analytical Chemistry to join their R&D team in Plymouth . This role is essential for developing and validating analytical methods used to characterize a wide range of chemical compounds and materials. You will be responsible for employing advanced analytical instrumentation and techniques to support product development and quality control initiatives. This hybrid position combines crucial hands-on laboratory work with opportunities for remote data analysis and reporting, ensuring a balanced and productive workflow in close proximity to leading scientific experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods using techniques such as HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, and Spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analyses to support research and development projects.
• Characterize and identify unknown substances and impurities in complex matrices.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Collaborate with chemists and engineers to interpret analytical data and solve complex problems.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with a variety of analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation.
• Proficiency in method development and validation according to regulatory guidelines.
• Strong understanding of chemical principles and their application in analytical measurements.
• Excellent record-keeping skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team setting.
