Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Automotive Electronics Engineer to join their innovative R&D team based in Bristol . This role involves designing, developing, and testing complex electronic systems and components for next-generation vehicles. You will play a key role in shaping the electronic architecture of our future products, focusing on areas such as powertrain control, infotainment, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware for automotive applications, including circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout oversight.
• Select and evaluate electronic components, considering performance, cost, and reliability requirements.
• Develop and execute test plans for electronic modules and systems, including environmental and EMC testing.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware and firmware, ensuring seamless system operation.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
• Stay abreast of emerging electronic technologies and industry trends relevant to the automotive sector.

Requirements

• BEng or MEng in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive electronics design and development.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence).
• Strong understanding of microcontroller-based systems, power electronics, and sensor technologies.
• Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) is a plus.
