About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their research and development team based near Brighton . This role involves designing, developing, and testing new mechanical systems and components for future vehicle platforms. You will play a key role in innovation, contributing to the performance, efficiency, and durability of automotive products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, extensive experience in CAD and simulation software, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of automotive technology. This is a challenging yet rewarding position within a forward-thinking company.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, from concept through to production.
Utilise CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modelling and detailed design.
Perform engineering analysis and simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD) to validate designs and optimise performance.
Conduct rigorous testing and validation of prototypes and components, analysing results to drive improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Document design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Significant professional experience as an Automotive Mechanical Engineer , with a focus on component design and development.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and CAE simulation tools.
Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and vehicle dynamics.
Experience with DFMEA and other risk assessment techniques.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
