About the Role
Our client, a leader in automotive innovation based in Cambridge , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their advanced research and development team. This role involves designing, developing, and testing new mechanical systems and components for future vehicle platforms. You will play a critical part in the entire product lifecycle, from concept generation to final production, working with cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of experts. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and sub-systems for automotive applications using CAD software.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, using FEA tools.
- Plan, execute, and document prototype testing and validation activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists, to ensure integrated system design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical design issues that arise during development and testing phases.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for project reviews.
Requirements
- BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in automotive mechanical design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong understanding of material science, mechanics of materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to the automotive industry.
- Experience with automotive powertrain, chassis, or body systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
