Senior Automotive Test Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Automotive Test Engineer to join their expanding R&D department in Sunderland . This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our innovative automotive components and systems. You will design, execute, and analyze a wide range of tests, contributing directly to the successful launch of new products. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a systematic approach to problem-solving, and a strong understanding of automotive testing methodologies, working both on-site and remotely as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and test cases for automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and systems.
• Execute functional, performance, and durability tests, documenting results meticulously.
• Analyze test data, identify defects, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Operate and maintain testing equipment and instrumentation, ensuring accuracy and calibration.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
• Prepare detailed test reports and present findings to project teams and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive testing and validation.
• Proficiency in using test automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, CAPL).
• Experience with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) and diagnostic tools.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem resolution.
• Ability to work effectively in both laboratory and potentially field test environments, with some hybrid flexibility.
