Senior Buyer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to lead critical purchasing activities for their operations in Birmingham . This pivotal role involves developing and executing strategic sourcing plans, managing key supplier relationships, and driving significant cost reductions across a broad range of categories. You will be responsible for overseeing complex procurement projects, ensuring the acquisition of materials and services meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the company's procurement strategy, contributing to operational excellence and profitability in a demanding market. This is a non-remote position requiring consistent presence at our Birmingham facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for key commodities and services.
• Lead negotiations with major suppliers to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service level agreements.
• Manage and mentor junior buying staff, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks.
• Analyze market intelligence to identify potential risks and opportunities within the supply chain.
• Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, from requisition to delivery and payment.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering and operations, to understand and meet their procurement needs.

Requirements

• Extensive experience (5+ years) in a Senior Buyer or equivalent strategic purchasing role.
• Proven track record of achieving significant cost savings through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
• In-depth knowledge of various procurement methodologies and contract law.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced procurement analytics tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
