About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Buyer to lead key purchasing initiatives for their operations based in Coventry . This hybrid role offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-office collaboration, allowing you to contribute strategically to our procurement function. You will be responsible for managing significant spend categories, driving cost reductions, and ensuring supply chain resilience. This position is vital for maintaining our competitive edge through effective sourcing and supplier management, working closely with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement process for specified goods and services, from specification to delivery.
• Develop and execute category strategies that optimise value, mitigate risk, and foster innovation.
• Conduct complex negotiations with key suppliers, securing competitive pricing and favourable contract terms.
• Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Analyse market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Mentor junior members of the procurement team and contribute to process improvements.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Buyer or in a similar purchasing role, with a proven track record in strategic sourcing.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working in a hybrid or flexible work environment.
• Familiarity with e-procurement systems and ERP software.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CIPS) are highly desirable.
