About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Community Sports Development Officer to drive sports participation initiatives across Oxford and its surrounding areas. This role is vital in developing and delivering strategic sports programs that engage diverse community groups, promoting health, well-being, and social inclusion through sport. You will work closely with local authorities, sports clubs, schools, and community venues to create accessible and sustainable sporting opportunities. This is a leadership role requiring strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills to foster a thriving sports environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage community sports development programs and projects.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including local councils, sports NGBs, schools, and community groups.
- Identify funding opportunities and support grant applications to secure resources for sports initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, providing regular reports on impact and outcomes.
- Lead and mentor junior staff and volunteers involved in sports development activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sports development, community engagement, or a related field, with a focus on program delivery.
- Strong knowledge of sports policy, funding mechanisms, and best practices in community sports development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
- Experience in project management and evaluation.
- A relevant qualification in Sports Development, Leisure Management, or a related discipline is desirable.
