About the Role

A dynamic theatre company in Bristol is seeking a talented and imaginative Senior Costume Designer to lead its costume department. This role requires a creative individual with a deep understanding of historical periods, character development, and theatrical production processes. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the creation of costumes for a range of productions, ensuring they align with the director's vision and enhance the storytelling. Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design costumes for theatre productions, considering character, period, and theme.
• Source fabrics, trims, and materials, managing the costume budget effectively.
• Oversee the construction, fitting, and maintenance of all costumes.
• Collaborate closely with directors, set designers, and the technical team.
• Manage a team of assistant designers, makers, and wardrobe staff.
• Maintain detailed records and research for all costume designs.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience as a Costume Designer , preferably in a theatre setting.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of design styles and periods.
• Proficiency in costume sketching , technical drawing, and fabric knowledge.
• Experience managing budgets and leading a design and wardrobe team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
