About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Design Engineer specializing in Mechanical engineering to join their innovative product development team based in Leeds . This role is key to translating conceptual ideas into tangible, high-performance products. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design process, from initial concept generation through to detailed design, prototyping, and testing. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using advanced CAD software .
- Perform rigorous stress analysis , tolerance analysis, and other engineering calculations to validate designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production processes and cost targets.
- Oversee the building and testing of prototypes, identifying and resolving design issues promptly.
- Contribute to design reviews, offering constructive feedback and innovative solutions for projects in Leeds .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency with industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) and simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing techniques (machining, injection molding, etc.), and GD&T.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and project management principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design challenges.
