About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their team, supporting operations from their base in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This role is essential for the efficient and safe execution of drilling operations, by managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems. You will provide expert technical support, ensuring fluid properties meet operational requirements and minimize drilling problems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fluid chemistry, rheology, and solids control, along with a proven ability to troubleshoot and adapt fluid programs in challenging drilling environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
- Monitor fluid performance in real-time, adjusting formulations to optimize drilling rates, wellbore stability, and formation integrity.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies regarding drilling fluid disposal and management.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to drilling crews, advising on fluid-related issues and solutions.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of drilling fluid samples to evaluate properties and performance.
- Maintain detailed records of fluid consumption, performance, and costs, identifying areas for efficiency improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related science.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer , with exposure to various drilling environments.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fluid systems, additives, and their properties (rheology, filtration, chemistry).
- Familiarity with solids control equipment and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
