About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to contribute to their operational excellence in Bristol . This role involves the design, management, and optimization of drilling fluid systems for various oil and gas exploration and production projects. You will ensure that fluid programs meet technical, safety, and environmental requirements, working closely with drilling teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned drilling fluids specialist to play a key role in maximizing drilling efficiency and wellbore integrity, operating within a flexible hybrid work model that balances site visits with remote responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well conditions and objectives.
- Supervise and advise on the operations of drilling fluid services at the wellsite.
- Monitor fluid properties and performance, troubleshoot issues, and adjust formulations as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations regarding drilling fluid disposal and handling.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analysis to evaluate fluid performance and develop new formulations.
- Prepare detailed drilling fluid reports and provide technical recommendations to drilling engineers and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical) or a related science.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in drilling fluids engineering, with offshore and onshore project exposure.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and properties.
- Experience with various drilling fluid systems (water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
- Strong understanding of wellbore hydraulics and formation interaction.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
