About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their operational team, based in Norwich . This is an on-site role critical to optimizing drilling performance and ensuring wellbore integrity in challenging exploration and production environments within the oil and gas sector. You will be responsible for the design, management, and on-site supervision of drilling fluid systems, ensuring they meet the specific technical requirements of each well. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fluid chemistry, rheology, and drilling mechanics, combined with practical field experience and strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological conditions.
- Supervise on-site drilling fluids operations, including mud mixing, monitoring, and treatment.
- Analyze drilling fluid properties and performance, making adjustments as necessary to optimize drilling efficiency and wellbore stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve drilling fluid related issues encountered during operations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations related to drilling fluids.
- Prepare detailed reports on drilling fluid performance and provide recommendations for future operations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in the oil and gas industry, with significant field experience.
- In-depth knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry, rheology, and formulation.
- Familiarity with various drilling fluid systems (water-based, oil-based, synthetic-based).
- Strong understanding of drilling mechanics and wellbore stability principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
