About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join their expanding team focused on renewable energy projects in Leeds . This role is central to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for a range of renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and battery storage. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, efficiency, and compliance of electrical installations from concept through to commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems engineering, a passion for sustainability, and the ability to contribute to innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving energy market .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and engineering for renewable energy projects, including system architecture, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Develop protection schemes, control systems, and power quality solutions for renewable generation assets.
- Oversee the procurement and installation of electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site personnel.
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations comply with relevant national and international standards and codes within the energy sector .
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a significant focus on renewable energy or power systems.
- Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E).
- Strong understanding of power electronics, grid connection requirements, and energy storage systems.
- Experience with HV/MV switchgear, transformers, and rotating machinery.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to challenges.
