About the Role
Our client seeks a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead foundation design projects for critical infrastructure and renewable energy developments in the Sunderland area. This role demands expertise in analyzing soil conditions, designing robust foundation solutions, and ensuring the structural integrity of offshore and onshore installations. You will manage project delivery, provide technical leadership, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geotechnical site investigations, including planning, execution, and interpretation of soil and rock mechanics data.
- Design and specify various types of foundations, including piled foundations , gravity bases, and shallow footings for onshore and offshore structures.
- Conduct advanced numerical modeling and analysis using industry-standard software for geotechnical and structural interactions .
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design documentation, and technical specifications for clients and regulatory bodies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers and site investigation teams.
- Liaise with project managers, structural engineers, and clients to ensure integrated and optimized design solutions.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering , with a strong focus on foundation design.
- Proven experience with offshore foundation design (e.g., wind turbines, oil platforms) and onshore infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar finite element analysis tools.
- Excellent understanding of soil behavior, rock mechanics , and ground improvement techniques.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.
