About the Role
Our client is seeking a distinguished Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead their geotechnical investigations and design activities supporting offshore and onshore oil and gas infrastructure projects from their Glasgow, Scotland office. You will be responsible for managing site investigations, interpreting complex geological data, and providing robust engineering designs for foundations, pipelines, and platforms. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and the ability to provide expert advice on ground conditions and their implications for engineering structures in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and execute onshore and offshore geotechnical site investigations, including soil sampling and in-situ testing.
- Interpret geotechnical data and perform detailed analysis for foundation design (e.g., piles, gravity bases, anchors).
- Develop geotechnical design reports for offshore structures, subsea pipelines, and onshore facilities.
- Provide expert advice on soil-structure interaction, slope stability, and seismic design considerations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural and pipeline engineers, to integrate geotechnical recommendations into overall project designs in Glasgow .
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
- Proven experience with geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and marine geotechnics.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and client liaison skills, with experience working in Scotland .
