Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Product Development)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative product development team in Brighton . This role is central to designing and bringing new, exciting products to market. You will be responsible for the entire mechanical design lifecycle, from ideation and concept development through to detailed design, prototyping, and testing. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, ensuring functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
• Conduct rigorous design analysis , including stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis, to validate product performance and reliability.
• Oversee prototyping and testing activities, providing technical guidance and iterating on designs based on test results.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and industrial designers to ensure cohesive product development.
• Manage external suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring components and assemblies meet design specifications and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Significant professional experience (6+ years) in product design and development , with a strong portfolio of successfully launched products.
• Expertise in 3D CAD modeling and PDM systems.
• Demonstrated experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication).
• Strong understanding of materials science and component selection for consumer or industrial products.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and creative thinking, with a passion for product innovation.
