Senior Network Engineer - Security Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with a specialization in network security to join their IT infrastructure team in Reading . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, reliable, and high-performance network infrastructure that supports the organization's operations. You will be responsible for network architecture, implementation of security protocols, and troubleshooting complex network issues. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of networking technologies and a strong commitment to safeguarding company assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and VPNs.
• Implement and maintain robust network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
• Develop and enforce network policies and procedures to ensure security and compliance.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network solutions with other systems.
• Stay current with emerging network technologies and security threats, recommending and implementing appropriate solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on security .
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices and technologies (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
• Experience with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Security+ are highly desirable.
