About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their chemical manufacturing facility in Norwich . This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently, and profitably, meeting production targets and quality standards. You will lead a team of operational staff, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and manage resources effectively. This is a critical position for an experienced operational leader in the chemical industry who is committed to excellence in safety, production, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, and logistics.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Manage operational budgets, capital expenditure requests, and resource allocation.
- Oversee maintenance planning and execution to ensure asset integrity and minimize downtime.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; an MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations management within the chemical or process industries.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale manufacturing operations and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM), Lean manufacturing principles, and quality systems.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with budget management and P&L responsibility.
